Boitte's Reconstruction
After the excavations conducted by Ernest Beulé in 1852, L.-F. Boitte
proposed to the French Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1864 that the
monument should be re-erected, incorporating remains from every era (such as
the Frankish Tower) and a restored cross-section of the west façade.
- Athena Promachos can be seen in the rear plan.
