Etruscan Minrva

Etruscan Minrva
Bronze of the sixth century BCE. British Museum, London.
- The Etruscan figure of the Goddess shows her wearing a helmet and breastplate like the Goddess Athena, with her right arm raised to hurl the spear.
- One of the twelve great figures of the Roman pantheon, Minerva first appeared in Etruria and was probably a Goddess of the thunderbolt.
- She was merged with Athena very early however and was consequently the least Roman of the divinities of the Capitoline triad (Jupiter, Juno and Minerva).
