Seated deities in the East frieze of the Hephaesteum
449 BCE. East frieze of the Hephaesteum, Agora, Athens.
- Zeus leans forward and looks as though he is about to throw a thunderbolt with his right hand.
- Athena seems to have held her helmet in her left hand, as she sometimes does when she is rushing to take part in a conflict.
