• The Siphnian Treasury is the most important of the Delphi treasuries.
• Siphnos had struck it rich in her gold and silver mines and the treasury was a tithe from her new wealth, built before the island was sacked by the Samians in 525 and the mines flooded; but little before, we may judge, and there are signs haste and incompletion.
