Siphnian Treasury East Side
Reconstruction by Tournaire. About 525 BCE. Delphi.
- The building is articulated by exquisitely carved Ionic mouldings and apart from the maidens in the porch had sculptured acroteria (Nikai), a frieze all round over the architrave, and two pediment groups of which that on the back is preserved.
- The East pediment is unusual in having the lower parts of the figures engaged with the back wall, their upper parts in the round with the background deeply recessed.
